Why rent a safe deposit box?

A safe deposit box offers privacy, security and peace of mind for your most valued and irreplaceable possessions. A home safe, file cabinet or mattress are much more vulnerable to fire, water and theft. You may even get lower insurance premiums on valuables kept in a Bonneville Bank safe deposit box rather than at home.

What should be kept in a safe deposit box?

You should put any personal items that you do not want to risk losing, or getting destroyed. Any valuable documents such as birth, marriage and death certificates, original deeds, titles, contracts, stock certificates, bonds and certificates of deposit should be kept in a safe deposit box. Also, jewels, collectibles such as coins or stamps, and even a copy of the contents in your home for insurance purposes.

What should not be kept in a safe deposit box?

Do not keep anything you may need immediate access to, in case Bonneville Bank is closed when you need it. We recommend keeping the original drafts of your will and power of attorney in your box, while keeping copies of them in a safe place at home so your family can locate them in an emergency.
